I recently received the best package from the lovely (and very generous) Wendy. Boris, the long-legged bird now sits above my desk keeping me company.
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with product orders, various decisions I have to make related to work and the possibility of school as well as general stuff like trying to find a decent plane ticket for my holiday trip home, so I'm going to take a few steps back and try to get some things accomplished. I think I'll be posting only photos until I get stuff in order.
Here's a shot of some wool felt pouches I finally dropped at Art Star.
and my sweet Motown who managed to create a dust bunny wig for his poor catnip stuffed friend, pinky.
be well,
L.
Above are some of my newest patchwork obis, both of these are headed to Art Star with a few of my mixed media pieces and some other curiousbird goodies. These obis were made possible using scrap fabric kindly gifted to me by the lovely Shona. I thought I had a thing for surprising people with packages...well, Shona certainly has me beat in that department. Thanks again, lady.
More obis and other items will be added to the shop as soon as 1. I get a few orders out the door and 2. I get the new sewing labels that I ran out of and only remembered to order a few weeks ago.
Dustin and I are off to see Little Children. I wish we could make it a double feature because there are so many great films out right now.
Happy Sunday,
L.
a day of sewing and soup...shitake mushrooms and udon noodles...slurp, slurp.
Finally, after way too long trying to find an adjustable vintage dressform, I really have searched high and low, I finally found one. Her name is Norma after my grandmother who so kindly and patiently taught me to sew way back in the 1980s. I hope I don't creep anyone out by naming things. It started with plants and has evolved from there.
Norma, not my grandma, the dressform, now resides in my studio and wears (for the time being) an apron I recently finished. I swear that Ebay, although often times scary in the way it makes time jump ahead and quite addictive if you're in to knick knacks is really the bees knees for finding long searched for items. It's funny...occasionally I'll have a thought about some random thing (be it a specific color coat, shoes or vintage tea set) just wondering if it exists and the very next thought is, what about Ebay?
I don't suppose I'm alone out here, am I?
Here's the apron, in case you were curious. The lovely mav is taking weekly studio self-portraits. I think I'll count this as mine.
Be well,
L.
I only have time for a quick hello and to show off some goodies from what I now refer to as My Saturday of productivity. If only I could duplicate whatever it was that made for such a productive day, I would be swimming in new items for my shop. Swimming. Anyway, the owls below were just part of what I made this weekend and they are headed out the door tomorrow, but more are in the works and will be available in the shop soon. It has been a while since I made owl pillows and honestly I forgot how much I love creating them.
This is Charles. I have to show a close up mainly because I love how colorful he turned out.
Okay, I know I said this post was going to be short, but I can't move ahead without showing what the rest of my family was up to while I stitched away this weekend.
Behold the maximum relaxation taking place in the room next to my studio. What can I say, some people sew for fun, some people watch football and cats often nap in the middle of it all.
Dustin didn't mind at all...he's sweet like that.
More soon, friends
L.
I don't remember having such a terrific Saturday in a long time. First, there was food (crepes to be exact) and good coffee followed by a chilly, yet sunny walk through busy Philadelphia streets, and finally there was productivity to top all productivity in my studio. I suppose the productivity part had very much to do with being caffeinated, but productivity, also known as crossing several things off my to do list (and having a fun day in my studio) is pretty much bliss for me. I'm working on items for three different shops here in Philly as well as my shop, so being productive is very much required.
I captured a few photos of our morning spent at Reading Terminal Market (love that place) and around beautiful Bella Vista. I'll show examples of my afternoon of sewing, cutting and piecing very soon.
