a place for my things

Hello there,

I'm feeling a little under the weather today {sore throat city}, which kind of bums me out since it's Friday and the weekend is right around the corner. And not just any weekend either, the weekend of the Mummers Parade here in Philadelphia. It'll be my first year and I simply can't miss it -- the photo ops are going to be amazing. **if anyone has any magic sore throat elixir recipes, please send 'em my way.

around the nest, I've been in a serious cleaning and organizing mode these last few days, which definitely has to do with the new year and all the creative plans I have for 2007 . I'm the type of person who can't start a new batch of projects without first getting everything in order. If you were reading back when I  moved to Philly, you'll recall how I couldn't open the shop or even start sewing until my entire art space was set up and really organized. This has been my story since childhood. I'm a little obsessive when it comes to my space and my things. Hence the new glass front cabinet that the boy and I painstakingly put together with my new drill (shout out meant for drill purchaser. you know who you are)...a dream for an organizational freak like myself -- at least until I make it messy looking for something in about a week or two.

I'm still figuring out my new MacBook --I love it, but there is certainly a learning curve in progress.

If you're in Philly this weekend, don't miss the parade. If you're somewhere else, treat yourself, you deserve it.

Happy weekend,
l.

Well, it doesn't really "cure" anything, but gargling warm salt water always makes my throat feel better. Seriously! Plus it's cheap.

Here's a good sore throat soother: Make a fruit-infused hot tea- any of the celestial seasonings "zinger" teas work well. Fill a mug half up with the tea, and the other half with orange juice. Add the juice of an entire lemon and add about a tablespoon and a half of honey. It always makes my throat happy.

cabinet looks fantastic! i don't know that i could do glass doors... need to have something that things can hide behind :)
best sore throat recipe, from my grandmother... tastes like hell but *works*... warm water + salt + ground turmeric. burning turmeric, if you have some whole, also helps with a cold.
hope you feel better soon!

i hope you get better...
the parade is so amazingly amazing!

the sure-fire sore throat taker awayer in our house: zinc. don't just take it like a pill, suck on it like a lozenge. yes, it's yucky. but it does work!

hope you feel better, the parade is a lot of fun. and i've been bitten by the organizing bug too

Hot ginger tea with lemon and honey always works for me. Hope you're feeling better soon!

About the mac, if you are a right clicker you will experience some withdrawal but it's all good. Remember you can always drag and drop, which is the best. Even better than right clicking.

oh my gosh I am so like you, I always *clean*(sometimes the whole house) before I start a project..running the store while I was moving was hell for me...my studio STILL isn't set up the way I want it to be and it's driving me nuts!!

You and I sound very much alike Leya. I was the one that had to reorganize my entire desk at work in between each big deadline. ("Shouldn't you be working Blair?" "Trust me, this iiiiissss working for me.") Here's to a clutter free 2007.
