it's a wrap

I recently discovered confirmed something about myself . For a while now, I've noticed whenever the deadline for a project is quickly approaching or I have taken on too many things at once {this has been happening a lot lately} and I'm feeling really stressed about it, I have to drop everything and make something for myself. Example numero uno: a wrap skirt, one of a few new items of clothing I made this weekend. {Norma, my dress form prefers to go topless when wearing wrap skirts in case you're curious}. I've been in the mood for a really bold printed dress or skirt and now I certainly have one. I'm considering going ahead and making a dress out of this print too, just for kicks. Besides, I still have quickly approaching deadlines to distract myself from.

Oh, I've also found that looking for the perfect new pair of yellow shoes is a good distraction from all things pressing, as well.
Currently these are the front-runners:

Oh, this makes me laugh. I have some frighteningly similar methods of distraction, often involving a skirt and shoes! And of course, the problem that gets us there in the first place (taking on too much!).
But the wrap skirt - it's fabulous!

I think the yellow wedges would be perfect for you!

beautiful new wrap skirt and cute yellow shoes! good luck with the deadlines. xo

The last time I felt this way (this time last year) I started sewing blue monsters + became obsessed with finding vintage fabric with bold blue colors to back the little guys.
I love what you have done with your diversion time- the skirt is fantastic, both in design + fabric choice.
Take care, breathe + buy yourself some of those cute yellow shoes.

You are very productive even in procrastination. Love that wrap skirt!

The skirt is fab and will look great on you this spring and summer - very flowy and breezy!

I just found your site yesterday and might i say i'm in LOVE! Where did you find those mary janes pictured in the top right? They are perfectly fantastic! Keep up the wonderful work and taking time for your self.

its lovely! and the perfect way to procrastinate:)

...anyway i can convince your share your yellow shoe source? particularly the ones in the bottom left hand corner...hmm....love yellow shoes...

That skirt is purdy! And those shoes~ aye, carumba! You have some fine taste. Just curious, because I'm super duper envious that you access to such cute shoes, do you buy shoes online? Just wondering if you have good luck with fit that way. I live in hickville is why I'm asking, ya know?

So much for blog surfing to avoid online shopping during my lunch break, lol. Now I have to run out and get the top right pair. That skirt would look wicked with a white tank and chunky beads! Awesome work!

what brand is the pair with the rubber toe. love those.

i get the same way- often the frustration is vented through baking.

and all of those shoes are just too great, good luck deciding!

well, rewarding yourself certainly is an excellent plan of attack when long lists are looming!

That fabric is lush!

cute cute cute cute! hope to see it on you soon. :)

What are those shoes with the rubber toes??? I LOVE those. xoxo Love the skirt and fabric too. GORGEOUS!!!!!!!

I know what you mean about taking things on and then getting overwhelmed by it all. And I do the same thing: do something that i *choose to do. What a great project you chose. That skirt is beautiful. I really love the fabric, it looks great.

Cute skirt! You are funny--I do the exact same thing. Ever since I was young, when I would get stressed out, I would procrastinate by crafting. Once when I was in school at FIT and had a project due the next day, for some reason I stayed up all night making dioramas instead of finishing the project!

Great shoes! The Miss Mooz ones are my favorite because I have them (also in mustard). I love them so much! If you get them, make sure to order a size smaller than you normally wear. I had to exchange mine because they were too big.

Lovely distractions (and a lovely door and knob behind Norma, too)!

My vote is for the shoes on the bottom left (although it was a tough choice). This totally put me in the mood to go shoe shopping. I found yor blog a few months ago and have been a faithful reader ever since. Thanks!

i have been looking for yellow shoes too!
and love that wrap skirt... such a great print! i empathize with the desire to procrastinate by sewing for yourself. when i am getting overwhelmed i go into major new-project mode... it doesn't help with the to-do list but it makes me feel much better.

Gosh that's pretty!

I vote bottom left for the shoes!!!

I love the skirt. What is the pattern you used?

Gorgeous skirt,you're very talented.

I love that skirt, fantastic.
