for the love of craft

Hi there,
Wow, what a weekend. Art Star was a kick. It gets bigger and bigger every year and it's great to see all the hard work put forth by organizers and Art Star proprietors, Erin and Megan develop in to such a booming success. After such a fun weekend, I feel like I could sleep for an entire week, but hopefully I will get a second wind...I better, Renegade Brooklyn is only two weeks away and I've got some sewing to do.
Some highlights from Art Star:
Meeting several of you blog-readers and even a few long time Curious Bird customers (Hi Becket and Maitreya!)
My tent neighbors, Betsy Ross Patterns and Etsy.com
Sampling cupcakes from Brown Betty
The unveiling of secret new products with much success! see photos and info below
Lemonade on a 90 degree afternoon
Seeing amazing handmade items and the artists who created them in one place (my city!) for two days straight.
Yep, that's right. Curious Bird now has a new line called Baby Bird for all the wee ones out there.
I'm starting small with hand-drawn designs printed on baby tees and bibs (I sold out of my giraffe and raccoon designs at Art Star). Baby Bird also includes funky, vintage fabric bibs for infants and toddlers, soft baby owls for little hands, birdie hand-puppets, and a few other items coming very soon.
Oh, and for the kitchen, Owl Potholders and Oven-mitts --another popular new item. And I thought I was the only person who wanted to use an owl to remove hot casseroles from the oven...
That's all for now. Like I said, I'm beat.
Hope you had yourself a nice weekend.
More very soon, friends
l.

Pretty sneeky, sis, with your secret new fabulous items! Isn't it wonderful when ALL that H-A-R-D work pays off so well, completely rewarding. AND another in 2 weeks? Sounds like you have no time to sleep!

I just couldn't drag my weary bones to Philly this weekend, and your photos make me sorry I missed the fair! Your booth looks fabulous - so colorful and full of fun stuff that I didn't even know you were making. The baby/kid line is great.

Hi! I'm so sad I didn't get to stop by your table! I didn't end up walking around much until it started REALLY raining. And I only ran through the area where your tent was (sans umbrella) as I waited for Deuce to prepare my tasty cheese steak spring rolls. But oh my goodness, could those pot holders BE any cuter???

Hi! It was really wonderful meeting you too! Your table/booth was perfectly decorated with treasures hanging from every corner! Your Baby Bird line is inspired and I will cherish the little kelly green tank with the giraffe print that I purchased. I can't wait to see it on my future (2 mos left!) little girl. On a more business-y note, I was really glad to see that every time I passed by you had a ton of visitors/shoppers. Way to go!

LOVE the owl potholders! The baby bird stuff is adorable, too. I can see why they got a good response at the show.
