It has been a busy week here in Curiousbirdland. Between working, planning a big trip that's coming up very soon, and filling a wholesale order, there hasn't been much time for blogging. I'll try to get back in the swing of things next week.
I wanted to thank everyone who commented on my post about Motown and his sneaky drinking habits. To be safe, Dustin has resorted to using a water bottle to keep from sharing sips...

Wishing you a nice weekend, I'll be back soon.

a very important piece of knowledge

There are two things you should know:
1. We received a new set of glasses as a wedding gift. They are rather wide-mouthed, a feature we like.
2. When going to bed, Dustin often takes a glass of water and places it on his bed-side table.

After my discovery this morning, I think things are about to change...

**also, just so you know, the fact that I was able to grab my camera and capture this moment, has pretty much made my day.

trees and beards

Hey there,

Lots going on today, but I wanted to pop in and show off the beginning of a little forest I've been working on. It's a paper and cardboard forest that's been on my mind for a while. I made these two large trees and have started a few more in smaller sizes. More cardboard needed stat.
I also wanted to show off my new bearded guy print (his name is Templeton). I finally managed to get him framed and displayed after way too long. He's a keeper. Ashley just made more of these bearded prints available, but they sell out super fast, so hurry if you want one.

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. We certainly did. Honestly, just thinking about it makes me want to have big feasts with friends as much as possible. I wonder if I could ever grow tired of cranberry sauce? Probably not.

Take care. I'll be back soon.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Happy Thanksgiving to you! May it be full of good food and good times.

two projects from new fabric I love

(Motown's new bed. Inspired by Erin's lovely creation.)

I have a ton of fabric, some that I can't even bring myself to cut, yet I often can't resist buying ikea fabric when I see a pattern I like. It's sturdy and cheaply priced and I know deep-down that it can be used and re-purchased, unlike some of my vintage pieces. What can I say, I'm a vintage fabric hoarder. I'm sure some of you understand and might even want to participate in a weekly support group. I'm not starting one, so don't worry. I'm only admitting it...because that's the first step, right?

the things we do

Dsc_0022
Lately, Dustin and I have been doing this cooking challenge where once a week one of us is completely responsible for preparing dinner  {the other is hands off} and the recipe has to be: 1. something the person cooking has never made before, and 2. it has to come from one of our many cookbooks. It was my idea as a nice way to get to know our cookbooks better, especially the great ones we received as wedding gifts. D was into the idea and the rest is history. For the last two weeks, each of us has accepted the "challenge". It's been quite a treat.

This week I made a wild mushroom tart that turned out pretty nice. D served up some Tom Yum soup and spring rolls. Two very different and very tasty dinners.

Speaking of dinner, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and keeping with tradition, we're hosting friends at our place.  Our kitchen is certainly nothing to write home about so as usual we're going to have to be very creative.
Just curious, pecan or pumpkin pie?  Which one is your favorite?

Stay warm,

My interview over on the glass doorknob is up today.  I'm thrilled and completely honored to be included among such a talented group of artists. Thanks again, Shari.

It's been a nice photo-only week for me around here. I accomplished a lot.
I'll show you some of it next week.

Have a great weekend, friends.
