If I didn't know better, I would think we were smack in the middle of Summer already.

Temps in the high eighties
An afternoon sitting in the park with friends
Wiffle ball, frisbee, and my new favorite, smashball
Cold slices of watermelon
Vodka tonics
Hummus and carrots

Feels like Summer to me.

comfort food

dustin made some delicious pad thai last night -- I am in the middle of finals,
so thai comfort food was right on time (he's such a keeper).  if only I had remembered to charge my camera battery...it died before I could photograph the finished product.  one of these days I'm going to learn my lesson.

only about a week to go before my summer begins. I can almost see the margarita I am going to have in celebration.

what a great weekend. 
the weather has been outta sight.
the cats are in super snuggle mode (do your cats enjoy sleeping face to face like this? they have so much love) 
several meals have been eaten outdoors
and my bike has transported me all over this fine city. 

dustin has been out of town all weekend.  at first, I was jealous because he was going on a trip to the catskills for hiking and debauchery (dudes only), but not now. I may not have hiked kaaterskill falls this weekend, but I did take a really nice early morning walk listening to the new bill callahan record.

off to make some hummus and get back outside.

thanks so much for all of the wonderful birthday wishes, blog friends. you guys are too sweet.

I had such a fantastic day, well, actually, I got to celebrate for nearly a week thanks to my birthday falling so close to the holiday weekend. the photos pretty much tell the story, but I have to mention that it involved a lovely dinner party with friends, a delicious homemade lemon cake glowing with spindly candles (that refused to go out), and there was even a little egg dyeing thrown in for good measure.  it was great fun and just the kind of celebration I like best.  yes indeed.

Today is my day to eat cake and wear a party hat. I'm not sure if I will actually wear the hat, but cake is most definitely on the agenda. hello 33!

can't wait to get a few new plants sometime soon.

need to make a trip to Terrain too.  heard good things.

just a quick hello to show off a few photos from the weekend. sadly, it was way too windy for sailing...maybe next time.

it was, however, a great weekend for bird watching, eating roasted cauliflower (twice!), and catching up with good friends.

It's not even 2pm and I have already had such a full day. I love days like this. my new haircut feels much better and in addition to a new do, I came away with several new hiking and camping recommendations from the guy who cut my hair -- that was an unexpected plus. 

I am off for a weekend away. there might be a sailboat involved...I'm taking many cameras.
