In case you didn't know already, I'm the kind of girl who really enjoys a good secret -- the slightly scandalous excitement of knowing something that I know my friends and family will also want to know, fighting back the urge to broadcast that knowledge to the world, protecting it as my own for just a little while longer. It drives me crazy, and still I love it.
Well, as you can see, it turns out that I've been holding on to a whopper of a secret for the last few months. And there's not much chance of hiding it now. That picture you see above? Proof that my rapidly-expanding belly is doing its best to usher in big changes for Leya and Dustin in 2010.
Despite feeling ridiculously excited and struggling to contain my growing secret, I waited to tell my family until our holiday trip home -- I just really wanted to see their faces when I broke the news, and it turned out to be completely worth the wait. After being very sneaky (and more than a little sickly) for the last few months, I'm overjoyed to share the news that I am now seventeen weeks pregnant with our little Junebug (due in early June). Dustin -- who has been a wonderful partner (and short-order cook) these last few months throughout all of my low-energy, weird-food-aversions/cravings -- and I are of course thrilled and loving each and every part of the process. And I'm happy and relieved to report that the second trimester has seen a huge recovery of energy and good feeling. I almost feel like myself. Except for that growing belly thing. And the need for naps. Many many naps.
Now would be a good time to say thank you for reading all these years, and of course for every one of the kind comments you've taken the time to send my way. I look forward to sharing some of our newest adventure with you. Once again, Happy 2010!
Fondly,
Leya
p.s. we're not finding out. we like surprises.
