Hope your upcoming weekend is full of good times. We don't have much going on except for finishing up some last minute house projects and making homemade pizzas... AND doing everything possible to relax and get ready to meet our Junebug. Following the advice many of you have given, we treated ourselves to a nice dinner at one of our favorite restaurants last night. We picked one with food we love that also happens to be one of the more cramped b.y.o.b.s (it's pretty noisy too) on our favorites list. We did this purposefully because we are fairly certain taking a baby there is out of the question. Baby+cramped+loud=not my idea of a good dinner out. Now we just need to follow through and go to a movie (or two). Any good recommendations?
Also, hang with me here, I have some very random tidbits to share:
It happened. I didn't know if it would (certainly didn't want it to), but today it definitely happened. What you ask? Well, my friends, a total stranger touched my belly, that's what. I was reading a book about birth (go figure, right?) while waiting for the bus and a woman did a sneak attack and touched my belly!! She did this while saying, "give me some luuuuv!" I nearly lost it, but remained composed while informing her that she was the first and only stranger to touch my belly without asking and I'm not that into people touching me without asking first. She wasn't phased at all by this information and continued to ask me all sorts of baby-related questions. WOW is all I have to say -- Some people need to stop and think before they act. Seriously.
The show Party Down is really funny. Give it a watch if you haven't already.
This article sheds light on how dangerous those little button-shaped lithium batteries can be when it comes little kids. Scary, but good to know.
Renegade Brooklyn is this weekend. Sure wish I could go. The print above, along with lots of others available from one of my favorites, Brainstorm Print and Design, will be for sale there.
Philly Beer Week starts today and goes until June 13th. Dustin is psyched, but knows he needs to remain sober in case the Bug decides it's time to say hello. At any rate, he's happy to know it's going on and plans to live vicariously through several of his fancy beer lovin'/brewin' friends.
Oh, before I forget. We really need some new music. Anything blowing your mind lately?
Once again, have yourself a lovely weekend.
xo,
L.

Folks touched my belly all the time. I live in the south...maybe it's a cultural thing. I'm pretty small and I think seeing a tiny girl with a massive basketball belly was too much for people to resist.
Yes...go to movies & non-kid friendly eateries. I wish we had done more. It's been 8 years since having our first and I think we've been to the movies 5 times? Enjoy.
Music:
Beulah, The Coast Is Never Clear & Yoko
The Mountain Goats, The Sunset Tree
Miles Kurosky, The Desert of Shallow Effects
The Dodos, Visiter

Sending you and the Bug good thoughts! I've been unable to stop listening to Mumford and Sons of late, with whom, as a super cool lady, I'm confident you are familiar. Also can't get enough of the Crazy Heart soundtrack and Bon Iver, both of which are excellent for mellowing out and sipping mint tea.
P.s. My website's under construction but I'd love to share it with you when it's live!

Do you know Paolo Nutini? He's a Scottish singer/songwriter. Very successful over here but I'm not sure if he's well known on your side of the water... Anyway, his most recent album Sunny Side Up is an absolute delight. Can't stop playing it.
Oh, and the song "These Streets" from his first album is beautiful too. :)

no one touched my belly, I think I give off a general "hands off" vibe at all times though.

I told B. that D. posted on your blog and he said well good, maybe then he'll post for you (I keep asking him to do a guest post on my blog). what a jerk.

The latest to catch my ear are Otis Taylor and Janelle Monae. Completely different from each other, but both really great.

I know I wont be into that whole stranger touching my belly thing either (like someday when I'm pregnant that is). My fear is that somehow the could hurt me - and as a general rule, I don't want anyone touching me that I don't know! Seriously weird. Mmm homemade pizza - I still have yet to try your dough. BBQ chicken pizza is my favorite homemade pizza to date. New music? I just got the Broken Bells album - I adore James Mercer's voice (from the Shins). I really really love it<3

My friend Sharon Van Etten is creating quite the buzz lately. Her music is beautiful, and since she's relatively new, perhaps you haven't heard of her yet and would like her sound. I also love most things Icelandic, if you would like, I can send you a playlist that is nice to listen to on hot days....

Music? I must put a plug in for a fabulous Canadian artist (my most recent and most loved find), Patrick Watson. If you are looking to have your brains blown, he may do just that... in a good and tidy way of course.

I'll never forget the drunk lady at a baseball game who came up and literally grabbed my belly button (which had popped out), pinched it very hard and said "how cute!!" I was mortified!

Loud + baby is a great thing, cramped not so much. If its loud and your baby is cranky (loud) you won't have to worry about it bothering anyone else at the restaurant.

You're where I was last year this time. Good luck. I like the Beta Band.
