Not too much to say around here these days (or so I thought when I started writing this post). Well, besides maybe a little pitty party talk about how I'm a week and a half from my due date, which means finding comfortable/restful sleep at night is laughable. Oh, and how chasing -- okay, the use of the word chasing is stretching it, let's call it waddling after --a toddler at various playgrounds looks and feels completely absurd. Every fellow-mama and papa on the scene, whether I know them or not, runs to my rescue constantly. Bless these saints of the playground. Of course the park/playground outings are a daily requirement. We must leave the house for at least one adventure a day or Felix and I both get cabin fever and start to come apart at the seams.
Besides sleeping uncomfortably and waddling to and fro, I am nesting like crazy over here. Mostly in the form of cooking food in giant batches so it can be put away in the freezer. On Sunday I really went for it while Dustin and Felix spent a good part of the day biking and playing ping pong and apparently getting caught up in some sort of barbeque sauce tasting shindig. Those two boys of mine have such a good time together. :-)
I made enough of my favorite dahl recipe to feed an army, two quiches, several mini pizza dough balls, and a batch of brownies that are damn amazing, if I do say so myself. They, the brownies, are a little bit like cake and a little bit like fudge, and I can see myself eating a tiny square sometime down the road and feeling very happy I took the time to make them and freeze them for later. Yes indeedy. More cooking and freezing to come, I'm sure.
As for other forms of nesting, I have cleaned a bit, and Dustin went sparkle crazy on the bathrooms a few days ago, which made me very happy. Love that man. Mostly, I am either cooking or schemeing about last minute baby projects. This time around I have noticed that I'm obsessed with the colors orange, red and yellow -- turquoise and green were my obsession when I was pregnant with Felix -- and I find myself using these colors any way I can when it comes to baby projects. Does this mean I'm having a girl or I'm in need of a beachy vacation with lots of amazing sunsets??
Here are a couple of random shots from bumblebee baby's nursery. It's still a work in progress due to us trying to figure out how we're going to make everything work with two kiddos, naps, and our desire to retain a guest bedroom.
shadowboxes yet to be finished hanging above the rocking chair. more on these later.
Also, here are a few of the sweet orangey/red inspirations I've found on Pinterest.
