I had the pleasure of spending a few hours on Saturday with almost all of my favorite Durham lady friends. (I have only lived here a little over a year and I feel surrounded by such wonderful girlfriends already --what an amazing feeling).
During the time we spent together, I was:
showered with encouraging words and good wishes for the birth by each woman in attendance (I found myself a little teary during that part. go figure)
fed cupcakes, fresh figs, quiche, fruit salad, and some amazing dark chocolate
gifted with handmade gifts, awesome hand-me-downs, and a beautiful potted plant
witnessed each lady (both the crafty and not-so-crafty types in the group) make one of these sweet birds to be added to a mobile for the baby's room.
was given a little handmade book made up of everyone's prediction for baby's height/weight/length/gender/birthday (lots of guesses that we'll have a baby girl born on sept. 6th. we'll see...)
I left feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. And of course immensely grateful for all the strong, supportive women in my life.
