Dustin took Felix on his first overnight camping trip this weekend (he kindly snapped a few photos with my camera). It was a huge success. They experienced all the best things about camping -- getting to explore some beautiful nature, cooking dinner (AND S'MORES!) over a campfire, stargazing whilst drifting off to sleep sans rainfly, and waking up early as the birds sang their morning songs. Good stuff.
I'm thrilled their very first father/son camping trip was a hit, but it's also good to have them back. They both returned smelling like a camp fire, with sand in their shoes, cute bedhead, and lots of sweet details about their time together. They also returned with that we-just-went-on-an-awesome-adventure-together smirk across their faces. And that is all I needed to see. Truly.
