Over the weekend...
we attended this funny event where the Durham Parks and Rec Department brought in a bunch of snow to create a sledding area and a play (think snowball fights and tears) area for the kids. it was super crowded, because who doesn't want to go sledding on a sunny 55 degree day?! Felix and Dustin stood in line for the sledding hill for a very long time. It was much like a line one would stand in on a semi-crowded day at an amusement park. SERIOUSLY. luckily Felix was a total sport and so was his father and it paid off. He took the sled down alone and loved every second of it. so cute to see. also cute to see was my husband pretzel-ing himself into one of those dinky dish-shaped sleds and zipping down the hill. good times.
Romy appreciated being able to run free under the warm sunshine.
I did tons of meal planning. geez, it takes time to plan things out for an entire week. (somewhat boring, I know, but a few months ago we implemented a strict budgeting system and even though it is working great, it does take lots of time and energy. perhaps I'll post on the topic of budgets and what we do sometime soon...
the hubs and I went on one of our regular brunch dates. we ate at a local favorite, Rue Cler, and did a little exploring around town afterward. it was and always is so good for us.
I started reading An Everlasting Meal. such a good read so far. love her writing style.
there were plenty of cafe au laits. I have a newfound love of coffee. and milk.
