in the holiday spirit

Xmas_card05
here's a view of the front of this year's holiday card. I sent all of them out a couple of days ago, so everyone except my west coast peeps should be getting one today or tomorrow. I don't know why I'm so big on sending holiday cards out, I'm a crazy recycler and tend to shy away from lots of paper waste, however I'm a total sucker for sending everyone I know (that I have a current address for) a card this time of year. It's funny, my friend that lives in town and received her card yesterday called me to thank me. She then went into how she hadn't even thought about cards yet and my getting them out already was some serious business. I told her this is just another example of how I'm a total spazz and checking things off my list fills me with such enormous glee. she knows me well, so she didn't put up any argument.

and more book news...
Gnome_book
yep. it's a gnome craft book. you may have already seen this, but if you haven't, and you're into gnomes, then get to it. there was a time when I seriously wanted to be a Waldorf teacher (I'm still a big advocate for Waldorf education) and this book seems to be used often within certain Waldorf circles. The thought of kids making gnomes, baking bread, and doing handwork definitely works for me.

Paintbynumberhorse
and lastly, check out the latest addition to my xmas list here. I'm a big fan of paint by number (the horse painting above rocks my living room), but painting by number from my own photographs sends me over the moon.

cabin 'o logs and a house in the trees

Log_cabin_pilow Log_cabin_pillow
I finished another log cabin pillow a couple of days ago. this one is a little less my style (i like my stuff wacky) and more the style of someone else. hope they like it. I can't tell you how fun these pillows are to make and how cozy they end up being once finished. I'm checking several items off my list of things to accomplish, which feels pretty nice. By the way, has anyone seen the lines at the post office? they're insane.

Treehousebook
check out this wonderful treehouse book I discovered recently. it is so inspiring. am I alone in wanting to one day have a tree house of my own? actually, I'm pretty sure D is into the idea, so no I guess I'm not alone. the creations in this book put my childhood treehouse to serious shame (big surprise). actually, I had a great treehouse when I was little. it was a lovely, small, orange treehouse. that last sentence was thrown in out of guilt that my g-pa might find out I'm not thankful for my childhood treehouse--he built it. lucky for me, g-pa can only play solitaire on the computer...

more soon. happy hump day.
