color me pretty: stripes and plaid

Hi there.  The final day of color week has arrived. For me it has been a lovely week filled with days spent searching for colors and having an excuse to peruse tons of nifty blogs -- many of which are new to me.  I have been able to keep my camera close by and have seen things a little differently, perhaps in better focus. Most importantly, I've used this week to slow down and take time to look around me, taking in my home and the world I walk around in (most usually in too big of a hurry). I wish I could remember to treat every week as color week...I'm going to try.

The last day is devoted to stripes and plaid. Here is what I saw:

color me pretty: pink thursday

Hi. This week has certainly been fun for me...only two days to go. Today is devoted to pink, another color I have only recently come to fully appreciate. I think this photo was what did it for me... and discovering how lovely pink looks alongside red and orange, or all by itself in the right shade.

color me pretty: yellow wednesday

Hi there.  Today is all about the color yellow. It's one of my favorites, and unlike purple, it can be found in pretty much every room of my home.  Yellow hasn't always been so popular with me -- it's sort of an either you love it or you hate it sort of color. Perhaps one day I will adore purple (or peach ---ewww) as much as I currently adore yellow. Kind of doubt it...

It's day number two of color week. Today's color is purple, a color that several people participating have expressed as being potentially challenging for them to find and photograph.  Although I also predicted it  as a tough one,  I managed to look around and spot some (not a lot, mind you) without too much effort. Guess what (who?) I discovered while digging through the $3 bin at Urban Outfitters? You got it -- you're good. Two snazzy owl ornaments (they double as bells), the same owl ornaments I saw for full price way back before the holiday craziness began. I'm pleased as punch about finding them.

After a few days of emails flowing into my inbox (another thing I'm pleased about),  it appears that several of you are up for participating in a week of color beginning on Monday the 12th. I'm excited, it will be fun to see what everyone else chooses to photograph. There are no rules...well, except for posting photos with the color of the day, but you can post one photo or more. I'm going to keep it to a minimum of three this time around -- I went a little nuts last time. Feel free to do whatever you like.  I will continue to add participants until Friday at 5pm est -- I would love to add participants right up until Monday morning, but I have to schedule a cut-off since I have my own color week photos to take, snacks to eat, and a pile of laundry so big my husband gets chills just looking at it. So...if you want to play, email me by Friday at 5pm est. 

Here is the schedule *drumroll, please*:

Monday: Blue
Tuesday: Purple (this one is going to be a challange for me. I'm just sayin')
Wednesday: Yellow
Thursday: Pink
Friday: Stripes or Plaid -- in any color combination!

also, noticing that it has been a very long time since I hosted a week of color.  seems like a good project to start off the new year. whaddaya say? wanna play along?

Blue, Blue, Electric Blue

Happy Friday,

Color week is coming to a close. It's bittersweet, that's for sure.
Today is Blue Friday, and as I wrote yesterday, blue will always be an easy color to love. It has never fallen out of my favor and I doubt it ever will. Blue reminds me of so many things. Like, the smurf sugar cereal my mom refused to buy for us way back when (thanks, mom -- you were right), and the bedroom walls of my cool friend in junior high. It even reminds me of the color of my hair for a short time in 1994 (awww, to be a college freshman again).  Like I said, blue is nice.  I'll always be fond of it.

To all the people who've joined in this week, all I can say is Thank You. Thanks for making it a great week, and more importantly thanks for looking around and finding so much color, then sharing it with me and everyone else. I'm definitely up for more days of color in the future. Hope you are too.

Ma vie en rose

Hello friends,

Color week is moving right along -- only today and tomorrow to go. 

I've really enjoyed being a little more aware of all the color around me and I can't even tell you how great it has been to peruse the beautiful photos taken by everyone participating. One thing I know for sure, I live in a very colorful world, one I sometimes don't fully appreciate. But this week has been different. This week I've looked and appreciated and clicked away. It's been sweet.

Tomorrow is Blue. And blue is a pretty nice color. Blue has always been nice, unlike orange.  It's easy.  It's the color of birds, and sky, and my little brother's eyes (he got blue, I got brown). Tomorrow is Blue. I'm looking forward to it.
