after drooling over and missing out on the birch vases at Small Stump for so long (boy, do they go fast), I decided I should just make my own.
I collected birch bark while hiking during our honeymoon in Western Massachusetts and wrapped it to keep it nice and cylindrical. after gluing each one together to make a tube, I placed small jars with candles inside and clustered my new birch bark vases on the entry table.  it was by far one of the easiest projects I've done in a while. instant gratification at it's best.

have a great day,

p.s. go jenny gordy go! her new designs are fantastic. if only I didn't just spend all my money on a wedding...

If you don't know Sabine, you should drop by her blog and take a look around. She's quite a sweet lady. I always enjoy her lovely posts, which happen to be full of  beautiful graphic design and handmade goodies. A while back she contacted me about doing a little swap, and I jumped for joy. I had only recently found her blog and had taken to visiting daily. I think I was hooked when she posted gorgeous photos of her recent trip to Thailand. You know I have a lot of love for trips to SE Asia.  Take a look at all the fantastic goodies she sent me (all the way from Copenhagen). I love having a friend in Copenhagen...

Birds GALORE! Beautiful vintage fabric and trims (swoon). AND loads of wonderful postcards,  handmade tags, and lovely badges, all created by her. What a talented and generous lady. Thanks!

Below is another collage from the "life without iron" series.

A few of you have emailed me asking about my most recent collages and their availability. I plan to add them to the nest section of my shop in the next day or two. Thanks for asking!

the harvey owl pillows were really multiplying around here this weekend. I worked on several new ones that turned out really sweet--some will be added to the site soon and others are for the Spectacular Crafternoon show at the end of the month. as for other projects, I'm in the midst of creating more shadowboxes, which I'm really excited about. I've gotten such a wonderful response about them from so many people.

I'm keeping it short and sweet today, mostly due to my still feeling a little sickly.
more soon, though.
have a good day.

I finished this cutie owl pillow last night...just in time. it was a special order and I think it turned out quite lovely. speaking of just in time and finishing things, I had a really productive Sunday (kinda feeling proud of myself for that). I've found I can get just about any project (or projects in this case) done if I crank the music and get all jacked up on black tea (I'm not really much of a coffee drinker).  yesterday, iron and wine was the music of choice. I can't seem to get burnt out on Sam Beam.

also, I just added three log cabin pillows to the nest section. I love each of them making it is sorta hard to put them up for sale. here's a pic of one that's available.

and before I go, I wanted to post a couple of links to great stationary I've ran across lately. I always love getting paper goods for xmas, so maybe you do too.

for all the bike lovers out there.
something for the modernists (this is actually on my list).
and for the botanists.
