Hello there. Happy Leap Year to you, and happy end of February {arm shoots toward the sky in jubilation). March is almost here and with it comes Spring break (if that applies to you), daylight savings time, St. Patrick's Day, and even Easter this year. Everything is happening a wee bit early, but I'm not complaining, I'm ready for a change of pace.
In case you're curious, the photo above is of a beautiful entrance to a church in Center City Philadelphia. If you live here, you probably know exactly where this is. The doors are hard to miss and even harder to refrain from photographing each and every time I pass by. I love the details...and the red is pretty much my idea of the perfect red.
I wanted to thank each of you for all the sweetness about my newest hat. I checked and I have enough of this vintage green and yellow fabric for about five or six hats. Also, thanks to the peeps that placed a custom order -- I'm going to begin working on your hat this weekend.
And lastly, congratulations to a couple of people we love who happen to live very far away in Olympia...you're going to be such amazing parents.
More soon,
Leya
Hey there. Hope your week is going well. Our yoga challenge is moving along swimmingly, and I got to see the new Frida Kahlo exhibit at the PMA last night, so I'm feeling pretty snazzy. I'm a big fan. If you're in the area, I highly recommend seeing the show --it's so beautiful and I learned a great deal more about her very interesting life. What a lady.
A couple of days ago, I mentioned that I may be coming out of a long sewing slump. I wanted to give you further proof: a new reversible apron/top (I'm wearing it as a top for now) from Simple Sewing by Lotta Jansdotter. I have been meaning to make this for ages and finally got around to it last weekend. For some reason I had trouble with the pattern at first, but once I figured out what I was confused about, it was smooth sailing, and very easy overall. I wore it as soon as I could (monday) and predict another one being made in the very near future.
Tomorrow looks a little busy, so I'll probably chime in again on Friday.
Cheers,
Leya
Happy Friday to you,
This morning I woke to a very pretty surprise outside. I was beginning to wonder if Philadelphia would get any real snow at all this winter, so it was a welcomed one. Very pretty...at least for now.
This week has been good. I haven't gotten enough done -- what is it with February? Owls were cut out for orders, so that's something I suppose.
Honestly, it's been nice to take the time to start a book , watch a couple of movies, and just relax a bit. I highly recommend it. Spring and all that a change of seasons brings will be here before we know it.
I guess you could say I'm resting up in preparation.
Before I say goodbye, I wanted to share a few links to sites and items I'm digging lately.
I'm doing a little buy nothing month here, but it's always fun to look.
Always a fan of this site, I love their selection of groovy animal cards.
Makool loves you and I love Makool.
The best beeswax candles. They seem to last forever.
I'm sure you've heard of Three Potato Four. What a great shop. Love these.
One of these would be great for the little succulents I plan to add to my collection in the Spring.
Okay, that's all for now. Have a lovely weekend.
Until Monday,
Leya

If you live in the Philadelphia area (or happen to have a ton of frequent flyer miles) you should definitely stop by the ART STAR CRAFT BAZAAR this weekend. I'll be there all day Saturday and Sunday, along with tons of amazing crafters and artists selling handmade goodies of all kinds. Oh, and don't be shy, drop by my booth and say hello (I'm located on the Liberties Walk near the Art Star Boutique).
Have a lovely weekend,
leya

once again, I spent numerous hours making a mess in my studio. six shadow boxes down...not sure how many to go...

I'm not even bothering to clean up between finishing one project and starting another. {I commonly clean up at least a little, you know, to get a fresh start...not this time. I'm trying a new approach}
I also spent some quality time with my sweetie in the park. He let me take reflection shots in his mirrored sunglasses, which I always want to do. He's a sport like that.
more soon.
have a nice weekend,
leya
