hello sunshine

Dsc_0008

Sunny studios are the best studios.

Hope your weekend was nice.  Just popping in to wish you a good start to your week.
Very proud to say that we're embarking on week number two of our daily yoga challenge -- it's been a really nice addition to our morning. A good long stretch (and some deep breathing) will do wonders. The warm sunshine that's expected today is an added bonus. Happy first week of March, my friends.

Be well out there,
Leya

the year of the leap

Hello there.  Happy Leap Year to you, and happy end of February {arm shoots toward the sky in jubilation). March is almost here and with it comes Spring break (if that applies to you), daylight savings time, St. Patrick's Day, and even Easter this year. Everything is happening a wee bit early, but I'm not complaining, I'm ready for a change of pace.

In case you're curious, the photo above is of a beautiful entrance to a church in Center City Philadelphia. If you live here, you probably know exactly where this is. The doors are hard to miss and even harder to refrain from photographing each and every time I pass by. I love the details...and the red is pretty much my idea of the perfect red.

I wanted to thank each of you for all the sweetness about my newest hat. I checked and  I have enough of this vintage green and yellow fabric for about five or six hats. Also, thanks to the peeps that placed a custom order -- I'm going to begin working on your hat this weekend.

And lastly, congratulations to a couple of people we love who happen to live very far away in Olympia...you're going to be such amazing parents.

More soon,
Leya

Happy Friday to you,
This morning I woke to a very pretty surprise outside. I was beginning to wonder if Philadelphia would get any real snow at all this winter, so it was a welcomed one. Very pretty...at least for now.

This week has been good. I haven't gotten enough done -- what is it with February? Owls were cut out for orders, so that's something I suppose.
Honestly, it's been nice to take the time to start a book , watch a couple of movies, and just relax a bit. I highly recommend it. Spring and all that a change of seasons brings will be here before we know it.
I guess you could say I'm resting up in preparation.

Before I say goodbye, I wanted to share a few links to sites and items I'm digging lately.
I'm doing a little buy nothing month here, but it's always fun to look.

Always a fan of this site, I love their selection of groovy animal cards.
Makool loves you and I love Makool.
The best beeswax candles. They seem to last forever.
I'm sure you've heard of Three Potato Four. What a great shop. Love these.
One of these would be great for the little succulents I plan to add to my collection in the Spring.

Okay, that's all for now. Have a lovely weekend.

Until Monday,
Leya

Feeling kind of quiet around here today. Smack in the middle of the week with lots to do.
Have a good day.

All I needed was some warmth and sunshine, and today was brimming with both.

A good day indeed.

The perfect lunch for a cold and rainy day -- creamy tomato soup is one of the most comforting things to me, it always has been.

Thanks for all the sweet comments about the paper doily mobile I created. It was very easy to make and it hangs  beautifully in the place of this for now. If you only knew the kind of wind-chime/mobile fascination that runs in my family, you would understand why I am driven to hang things from above. It's in my genes.

The weekend is almost here. I'm hoping to finish my contribution to the mid-winter gocco swap and maybe even do some work on a painting project I've been playing around with. We'll see...I'm might just see movies and read with a cat or two in my lap.

To conclude a week of simple questions (thanks again for all of your wonderful simple answers -- it's been fun), I've been thinking a bit about being smack in the middle of winter and how that influences my mood and my productivity (if only I were a knitter). Don't get me wrong, I really like winter. I might even love it at times. It's just a different rhythm. Slower and quieter.
Do you have favorite things about Winter?

Happy weekend, friends

winter white friday

Hello,
Wouldn't you know I would have to end winter white week with a three photo bang, and it's probably no surprise my sweet, solid white kitty is included (looking quite crabby, no less). Posting only photos this week has been nice -- it has given me some time to focus on a few projects I've had trouble finishing. Honestly, I've been in a bit of a slump when it comes to getting things done. Lots of ideas, but not a lot of energy.

It's Friday, though and I'm looking forward to a weekend of reading, completing a gocco project, and baking something from this lovely cookbook. I've been trying to choose between making something sweet or savory. I'm leaning toward cheddar cheese biscuits...or maybe I will try baking croissants..or perhaps I'll just open the book blindly and point. We'll see.

Have a nice weekend,
L.

winter white thursday

More winter whites here. This time, I give you white antlers.

I've got a cold that's trying to put me to bed, but I won't give in. I have things to do, I say. Things. To. Do.
Like return library books and make black bean soup.

Sleeping on under a cloud. My winter white week photo number two.

Band of Horses was a good time. Made me miss the South a bit. Made me long for a cabin in the mountains. Yeah, a cabin outside Asheville. I'd have a sunny little studio and a porch with a nice spot to sit and read while drinking tea. Maybe one day.

For now, I'll continue to listen to Gram Parsons and eat the last of the chocolate chip muffins.
Have yourself  a good day.

More winter white week photos to come.
