We went on a hike on Saturday -- a really nice one not too far out of the city. There were lilacs growing in the trees and the smell was unbelievable. I wish I could have bottled some up. This being our first hike of the season, it was fitting that it turned into quite an adventure. For starters, we got a little lost (nothing serious), but then I had to go and nearly step on a snake (yep, that little fella up there in the photo). I'm not that knowledgeable about snakes, so I'm unsure what would have happened, but I would rather we not encounter snakes on our hikes. It's just better that way. Because for some reason snakes really get to me -- I can do bugs and most other critters (err..except for bats), but I'm not so good when it comes to snakes. It has something to do with how fast they can move...or past experiences of seeing one or two coiled up in the grass on my grandparent's farm...or that time in Florida where one nearly wrapped around Dustin's legs as he sat unknowingly at a picnic table (not kidding!) whatever it is, they make me all giggly and goofy acting. Not that I need to see a snake to act giggly and goofy...
Okay, enough about the snakes (I'm starting to twitch as I type this). The weekend was lovely and I'm looking forward to more adventures in the woods, minus the snakes.
Hope your weekend was sweet,
Leya
