This trip helped me completely understand why a lot of people we know rent the same beach house at the same beach every year. It's crystal clear now -- when you find something that works there is no reason to look elsewhere. We'd definitely revisit our last spot next year. And we may. It's silly to admit but the outdoor shower might have been my very favorite thing about our beach house. Note to self: get a place in the country and install yourself an outdoor shower pronto!
The kids played games and watched Totoro. We intended to bring Ponyo, which would have been perfect for the beach, but I only brought the case, leaving the dvd at home in our player. Duh. Felix was also introduced to Frozen for the first time. I think it's safe to say his cousin is a pretty big fan. It's funny, though, from the night we watched it Felix would come up to me and ask me to remind him what Elsa's name was. He could not for the life of him remember her name. Kooky boy.
There was a glorious rainbow one evening. The same evening we used the gas grill to make s'mores. Good stuff. The grown-ups played Cards Against Humanity and Celebrity after the kids went to bed. Have you played Cards Against Humanity? Man oh man, that game is raunchy and super funny. And you know I feel extremely comfortable with my in-laws to play a game like that. I can easily giggle to myself now just thinking of some of the silly cards people played.
No trip to the beach is complete without a visit to the aquarium. Although I must admit that swimming in the ocean the day after seeing the sharks at the aquarium made me feel a little nervous. Sharks are such beautiful creatures, but terrifying!
Hope your summer is full of adventures and maybe a rainbow or two.
Fondly,
Leya
