Felix has always enjoyed craft projects. He loves to paint and do stamping and make all sorts of creations out of odds and ends we've collected. However, one thing he has never been interested in is drawing or doodling or scribbling or even coloring. I have never pushed him to draw; I've only noticed what he was most interested in doing and observed how he most commonly responded when a friend would be drawing or coloring. He always lost interest really quickly.
But...lately...things have changed.
He has started drawing representational drawings of people and things. He likes to draw the legs coming directly out of the head, which I LOVE. He also has been explaining to me what the smiles he draws mean. For example, he told me that one of his drawings was of his Papa and he went on to share that the smile was "the kind of smile Papa has when he sees something interesting in his newspaper." Oh, my heart!
Love that kid. And I love this front row seat I get to have as all his new skills emerge. Makes all the tough stuff fade right away.
Have a great weekend, friends. It's a busy one here.

p.s. Do you listen to podcasts? If so, have you been listening to The Longest Shortest Time? So good.
